Interest Inventory: Career Exploration Resources

In Washington State, SchooLinks is the platform used to support students in their career exploration journey. SchooLinks provides a range of tools, including aptitude testing, interest inventories, and career matching, to help students discover and plan their futures. By leveraging this platform, students can gain deeper insights into their interests and how they translate into real-world careers.

Prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high demand careers.  CTE is a national program designed for career exploration and preparation where students learn academic, employability, and technical skills in hands-on settings.  Students enrolled in CTE courses engage in leadership skill development activities as an integral part of the instructional program.

Jobs 253 & Work-based Learning

Internships and work experience are an important part of helping students prepare for success in the workforce. TPS offers students many opportunities to gain work experience, including our Jobs 253 program. Through Jobs 253 program high school students can earn credit for graduation while gaining meaningful work experience and life skills. The City of Tacoma partners in funding up to a $500 stipend (per experience) that students receive when they fulfill the program requirements

Tacoma Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring every student will graduate with one or more Industry Recognized Credentials that will advance their competitiveness for entry-level employment and post-secondary education opportunities.

 

Summer Credential programs offer a unique opportunity for Tacoma Public Schools high school students to receive free training from industry experts, earn industry recognized credentials, earn a completion stipend and credit toward graduation. Programs can lead directly to careers or employment opportunities.
