Student-Run Businesses: Young Entrepreneurs at Mt. Tahoma

By: Aniya Logan-Daly

At Mount Tahoma, some students are doing more than just keeping up with school—they’re building businesses. In a recent segment for The Tower Newspaper, I interviewed five student entrepreneurs who are turning their skills and creativity into real side hustles. Their stories show how dedication, talent, and a little bit of courage can go a long way.

Evolet, a sophomore, makes ribbon bouquets that are perfect for gifts and celebrations. Her Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/ramosbyevolet, shows off her colorful and detailed designs. Senior Minh is a barber who’s been cutting hair for a while now. His page, https://www.instagram.com/clipzbymin, features clean fades and sharp line-ups that prove he’s serious about his craft.

Lea, a junior, runs https://www.instagram.com/leassweets, where she sells all kinds of treats, from chocolate-covered strawberries to custom dessert boxes. Her work is creative and super popular. Sophomore Abi focuses more on cookies and baked goods, and her Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/abis.treatss, is full of sweet creations that bring joy to her customers.

Senior Shay also makes ribbon bouquets, and her brand, https://www.instagram.com/eternal_bloomsss, stands out with elegant designs that feel personal and meaningful.

Each student talked about how they balance school and business, promote their work, and stay motivated. Their stories connect to values like creativity, community voice, and respect. They’re not just making money; they’re building something that reflects who they are.

These student-run businesses show that you don’t have to wait until after high school to start something real. Whether it’s through sweets, scissors, or ribbons, these T-Birds are proving that with passion and effort, you can turn your ideas into something amazing.
