If you walked through the Mount Tahoma courtyard this week, you might not have noticed it at first. There were no banners or loud announcements. But right beneath the ground, something meaningful now rests there: our senior time capsule. 

As part of a special ceremony, Mount Tahoma seniors came together to bury a time capsule filled with pieces of who we are right now. It wasn’t just about tossing random items in a box. It was about telling a story to future students and holding on to the moments that made our time here real. 

Several seniors were invited to share what they chose to include. Some picked small personal items that represent friendships or activities they loved. Others added notes about hopes for the future, fears about graduating, or reminders of what Mount Tahoma meant to them. Every item reflected a different voice, which is what made the capsule feel complete. 

The ceremony itself was simple but powerful. Standing together in the courtyard, we watched as the capsule was placed into the ground, knowing it would stay there long after we leave. It was a moment of belonging—seniors from all walks of life sharing space, memories, and respect for each other’s journeys. 

This project showed strong community values without trying too hard. Collaboration played a big role, from planning the capsule to deciding where it would be buried. Courage showed through seniors who were willing to leave pieces of themselves behind. And hope was felt in every item meant for the future, trusting that Mount Tahoma will keep growing and welcoming new students. 

More than anything, the time capsule honored our community voice. It didn’t tell just one story—it told many. It proved that our school culture is built on empathy, creativity, and respect for each other’s experiences. 

Years from now, when someone digs it up, they won’t just find old objects. They’ll find proof that the Class of today cared—about each other, about this school, and about the legacy we’re leaving behind. And that’s something worth burying in the ground and carrying with us forever.
