If you’ve ever watched Ratatouille and wished you could taste the food yourself, you’re definitely not the only one. In her Mount Tahoma TV segment, junior Marisol Gonzalez brought the movie straight into her kitchen. “Hi, I’m Marisol and today I’m making food from the movie *Ratatouille*,” she said as she kicked off her step‑by‑step cooking tutorial.

She started with Remy’s potato leek soup—the same one from the scene where Remy secretly fixes Linguini’s ruined pot. Marisol chopped two big leeks, minced garlic, and sliced green onions. She cooked everything with butter, avocado oil, salt, and pepper until it softened. Then she added chopped potatoes, chicken stock, thyme, and basil. After simmering, she blended the soup, mixed in heavy cream, and added parsley. The soup came out warm, creamy, and perfect for a cold Tacoma day.

Next, she took on the dish everyone knows: ratatouille. She roasted bell peppers and tomatoes at 400 degrees, peeled them, and blended them into a smooth sauce. While that cooked, she chopped onions and garlic for the base. Then came the colorful part—thin slices of zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, and tomatoes. She layered them in a pan over the sauce and baked the dish for an hour. Even though she joked about leaving the veggies on the stove too long, the final plate looked bright and artistic, just like the movie.

Marisol’s cooking wasn’t just about following a recipe. It showed creativity, curiosity, and courage—values our Mount Tahoma community cares about. Cooking can be a way to share culture, show kindness, and bring people together. It’s a reminder that belonging can start with something as simple as food.
