One of the best places to chill is The 15% Board Game Café, located near the University of Puget Sound. The vibe is warm and welcoming the moment you walk in. For just a $7 sitting fee, you can pick from over 400 board games and play as long as you want. They even greet you with a free 12 oz drink—the Italian sodas were definitely a highlight. It’s a fun, low-cost way to connect, laugh, and build memories with friends or family. The friendly service makes you feel like you belong, which is something many of us appreciate.

If you’re looking for a quiet and comfortable study spot, the Collins Memorial Library is also located by UPS. This library offers lots of study spaces, helpful staff, and tools like printers you can use for free with your student ID. While you can’t check out books without a subscription, it’s still a peaceful place to get work done. Collins Library also hosts free events like art exhibits and concerts—there’s even one coming up on February 2. Places like this support academic excellence and give students a chance to focus without distractions.

For something more hands-on and adventurous, check out Foss Waterway Seaport, a free museum near the Stadium District. This maritime museum is full of Tacoma history, interactive exhibits, and amazing waterfront views of the bay and Mt. Rainier. You can explore historic boats, learn through touch tanks, and try activities like microscope stations or a bingo scavenger hunt. It’s a great spot to learn, explore, and reconnect with the culture of the Pacific Northwest.
