If you’ve ever walked through the halls of Mount Tahoma High School, you’ve probably felt
it, that sense of pride and family that comes from being a T-Bird. Mount Tahoma isn’t just a
school; it’s a story built on history, community, and the values that continue to shape who
we are today.
In The Tower newspaper segment, we explored where our school stands, both literally and
symbolically. The land itself carries meaning, a reminder that we are part of something
bigger, rooted in Tacoma’s diverse and resilient community. Our story is one of belonging,
collaboration, and honoring our cultures, values that have been carried forward from the
very beginning.
Corey, who helped with the project, interviewed Mr. Kramer, one of Mount Tahoma’s
teachers. Mr. Kramer shared insights about how students have changed over the years,
how our sports programs have grown, and how our traditions continue to thrive.
From the early days of the school to today’s campus filled with students from dozens of
cultural backgrounds, Mount Tahoma has remained a place of compassion, curiosity, and
courage. It’s where creativity and academic excellence meet community voice and
integrity. Every student brings something new, but together we carry the same
commitment: to lift each other up and make our marks.
Our school’s history isn’t just about buildings or trophies, it’s about people. It’s about the
kindness that connects us, the empathy that guides us, and the pride that keeps us flying
high as T-Birds. Whether in class, on the field, or in the community, the legacy of Mount
Tahoma lives through all of us.
Once a T-Bird, always a T-Bird — and that’s something no time or change can take away.
